Hi All,
This is intended to be an Introduction to my Africa Section. The only pathetic thing about my Africa section is that I’ve only been to one country in Africa. This being said there is little I can say or comment legitimately on the life, culture, people, or most anything having to do with Africa!
My one country visited is Morocco. I was there for three weeks in September of 2001 and only went to Tanger, Marrakech and Essaouira. This was not a grand tour of Morocco as it turned out! Partly due to my style of travelling which was to do as little at possible it sometimes seems when looking back; and global politics. Although politics normally wouldn’t affect me in this case it does so greatly. I’ve currently posted Part One of the Morocco story. I’ll openly admit now that it’s going to take me some time to complete Part Two. However if you’ve read the first and are dying for the second then let me know. As usual I just need a kick in the ass occasionally to stop looking at Sky Sports and move onto more important matters!
I can assure you my time in Morocco was an amazing one. I’m currently twenty-eight with twenty-nine quickly approaching and there had been great intent on my part to spend this year {2008} in Africa, travelling the length of the continent and discovering at least some of what it has to offer. I decided against doing this trip however because my style of travel is changing and perhaps maturing. I have spent nine years on the road, much of this time without any real propose. I don’t regret a minute of it, so don’t take it the wrong way! It’s simply that as I see myself getting older I decided spending a year in Africa would be amazing but it possibly not what I currently want out of life. Whatever exactly that may be! In addition to this in November of last year I fell in love, and this always grounds a man; just a bit!
Therefore, Africa has to wait and I know one day I will reach her shores again. I’m excited to do so, but till that time comes I have Morocco. This country positively influenced my way of travelling and viewing local peoples forever. For this I’ll always be indebted to Morocco and her peoples.
I hope that you enjoy my story on Morocco. I do have friends who know a bit about Africa so if you have any questions or comments please leave them here. The story itself you’ll be able to find in the Categories Section (off to your right) entitled Africa!
